Brian, Greg, Steve, I met them way back in 2018, on the classic, as classic as it gets: the Dolomites tour. Then work commitments and Covid forced us to stay in touch, though not without a few requests for further trips. Last year, after a couple more attempts, we almost made it to the Austrian Alps, which was then canceled due to Greg's unavoidable work issues. The three have been friends since college, live in different states, are successful entrepreneurs, and, to further complicate matters, they spend time with their families, but their wives don't travel by motorcycle, which leads to a tangled, sometimes inextricable, logistical chain. But between travel ideas and suggested itineraries across Italy, we finally arrive at this 2025 and the Trinacria 2025 project. Of course, the chosen time is late June, certainly not the best time to go for a ride on your motorcycles in sunny Sicily. I point this out, but the group is determined and gives me confirmation, even the ladies are euphoric at the idea of staying in Taormina and Ortigia, climbing to the mouth of the crater of the highest volcano in Europe, and tastings in the vinery... and the project, unexpectedly, takes off!!
Departure and arrival from Taormina, in the middle the Nebrodi, Madonie, Etna, with our usual roads. How did it go? I don't know; the answer will go to those who participated.
But, as always, Sicily, this splendid Sicily, even in a torrid late June, always comes to the rescue, a certainty!!
The trip was made on the new BMW R1300 GS, made available by the MOTORRAD branch in Rome, using “Rent A Ride”, the BMW Motorrad rental platform: Rent a Ride
